Interview

I want to watch this because it looks like a 2-man show and most movies like this (Before Sunset) can be hard to pull off and mostly consists of pure dialogue and should be intellectually entertaining.

Also, the odd pairing of Sienna Miller (I crush you) and Steve Buscemi should be equally intriguing.

Transformed

Call me a complete dork but I LOVED The Transformers!!! I've been so excited to see this movie and I don't care what anybody thinks of it. I want to watch it again! I was so not disappointed at all! Para akong kinikiliti sa pwet nung lumabas si Optimus Prime sa sobrang kakiligan. But like all Michael Bay movies (or most blockbusters for that matter), this one came with your usual ohmigod-that-was-so-damn-annoying scenes. This movie had them too, and most of them included the lithe form of Megan Fox, pfft.

I loved it so much I felt like a kid who didn't want to share candy. I don't want to share the movie. Nobody watch it! It's mine!!! Hihihi!

In response to my previous post, HURRAY for Michael Bay!

I want my own Pearl!

Grace showed me this video two weeks ago. The video features Adam McKay's (writer for Anchorman, Talladega Nights) daughter. She's too cute. I wanna do this too!

The Landlord

The second clip was uploaded 4 days ago (according to the site) so Pearl looks much older in this new one.
Good Cop, Baby Cop

Relief

So I haven't posted in a while. If you haven't noticed, bless your heart.

It just didn't feel appropriate for me to be posting witty blog entries while my mom has been in the hospital for days. She's just undergone her second round of Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy, her first was last Tuesday. It has been a long suspenseful and grueling week. I was in there when she came back from the OR this afternoon and she was obviously in a whole lot of pain. Thank god it's over. The doctors said they got most of it out and whatever is left can be eliminated using shockwave treatments.

She will be in bed for the next couple of weeks. I'm just so happy it's (almost) over. I was a nervous wreck and my mood swings were off the charts. Diba bb? Sorry...

Another upside to all this is I didn't have to give blood. I'm deathly afraid of needles and was supposed to give some since my mom lost a lot of blood during her first round. Somehow, they didn't need me anymore which was a huge relief for me. Whew!

Is there anything food can't fix?

I had a crappy morning following a crappier week. I've decided to skip work today since I really was in no mood to face anyone from work. I went to atc and got myself a shirt from Bayo and some halo-halo from the Coolman stall. I then spent about an hour in Powerbooks reading The Amber Spyglass until a thought occurred to me. I could make cookies! I was just thinking the other day that I haven't been able to make cookies since I've been busy at work a lot lately. And what better time to make them but for my mom after she gets well! After a quick stop at Makati Supermarket, I headed home an started whipping up a fresh batch. The smell soon began to permeate the kitchen and immediately I began to feel better. Tin got home and and we had dinner, she told me Yoe (her bf) was offering to drive us to UST if we wanted to visit. I called my mom and made plans for us to visit tomorrow before she goes in the operating room. Unfortunately, she won't be able to enjoy her cookies after the operation since they will be feeding her through a tube for the next couple of days. But they'll be ready when she gets home. :)

Cheer up Grub

I'm drowning myself with sweets and such. It's that time of the month again (ladies...) and OO masungit ako pero may rason akong magsungit. I would much rather not rant about work, I have lots to say but would prefer not to get into it.

I'm not very much into chocolates, unlike my husband who demands his bar of Hershey's milk chocolate. But yesterday I woke up with a strange craving for it. I scourged the ref for a chocolate bar but found none so I passed by Watson's before work and scored myself a pack of Hershey's Kisses with almonds, Chupa Chups and a Milo Bar. Yummmm. I really wanted a Cadbury Hazelnut bar but they only had a big bar of it that cost P65!

I just scarfed down two cups of berry yogurt. There's a bag of Oreo cookies in the kitchen but I resisted the urge to grab them with a glass of milk and opted for the fat free yogurt instead. A lot of messed up things are happening to me right now. I don't wanna get into it and enumerate my overly unwanted dramatic life because I personally am sick of it myself. Sometimes I just want to drop into a big hole in the earth and be rid of it altogether.

My mom will undergo surgery in two days. She has kidney stones. I don't know what kind of procedure it'll be that's why I've decided to go to UST (where the procedure will take place) before she goes under the knife and talk to the doctor. Better I hear the details from him than my mom. My mom wouldn't be able to explain it as accurately as I would like knowing her knack for over-explaining and exaggerating things. I would say "please pray for her" if I believed in the power of prayer but since I don't all I can do is sit and hope and have faith in the powers that be. In as much as I would like it to seem that I am calm about this whole thing, my mind is in mad panic. I'm trying to not to think about it so much and it would be so easy to let the week pass by and pretend nothing like this is happening. Oh I wish Paul were here. That way, I wouldn't feel so lonely all the time. I've always been the type to be on top of things and always level-headed but it gets so exhausting at times. I'm always responsible for some things, people and such. I hate how my mom comes to me for her "If something were to happen to me, I would like you to..." speech. It sucks but I also know I'm the only person she can depend on. I wish I didn't have to carry such a big burden such as this.

I do hope she'll be okay. I don't know what I'd do otherwise.

Hungover from so many things

Woke up from an 11-hour sleep. Sarap! My vision's still a bit fuzzy since my eyes are still half asleep but I have to blog now because I just saw Niki post the photos of yesterday's trip and refer to my blog for the highlights. So I'm blogging away.

Well the trip really started the night before. Bea, Niki and I all came from work. We all decided to go home, pack and meet at Bea's later that night to sleep. Niki and I met up in Mcdo Alabang around 12:30am because we were hungry. We were in line buying food when I realized I didn't have my car keys with me. I LEFT THEM LOCKED INSIDE THE CAR! I'm such an idiot. So I left Niki there to run home and get my spare. After much haggling with a taxi driver, I got to my house and back and NIki and I managed to have our snack before getting to Bea's. When we got there, Niki had to shower (for the SECOND time that night!) before bed and we spent a couple more minutes chit-chatting before I finally decided to ignore them talking and fall asleep.

Next Day:
We got up, ate, got dressed and picked Paul up. We all needed money so we passed by an atm and was pleased that payroll kicked in but disappointed to see we didn't really have much to spend with. Anyway, it was a looong drive to Nasugbu. Thank god I wasn't driving. My car managed to be good and not give us any major scares on the way. We passed by the Nasugbu wet market to buy food and other essentials and drove to the White Cove. When we pulled up the drive way entrance to the resort, the guard informs us that the resort is CLOSED and won't open till JANUARY 2008. HUWAW!

So we have a trunk full of alcohol, seafood and liempo, all geared up and after all that driving, we are slammed with this? The guard suggests we go to Munting Buhangin. I have never been there but since we didn't have any other choice, Paul backed up and drove in that direction. Turned out the resort wasn't bad. Bea's had memories of bad toilets but they've apparently changed theirs since her last visit. Nothing was going to stop us from having a good time so we got to work on our food right away.

"Rekta! i-Rekta! Rektahin!"

Paul, with bea and niki's aid, began grilling the meats and seafood and I started chopping the veggies. When I was done, I invited the girls for a dip before lunch since the sun was so inviting. We later found out that was the last of the sun we would see all day. When Paul, yelled that lunch was ready, we hurriedly got up and ate without the usual "take photos of the food." We scarfed down as much of the grub then washed it down with a mix of Skyy Vodka Citrus, Sprite and Zesto orange. As most of the people who know me know, it really doesn't take a lot to get me drunk so I was the first to go. By this time, it was already raining and lightning was striking all around us. We opted to let the thunderstorm die down before we all got back in the water.

We literally spent HOURS in the water after that. With only Paul standing up to eat more of the tilapia and Bea getting up for bathroom breaks. The next couple of hours were spent seriously drunk playing truth or dare in the water using the empty bottle of vodka. We've all had our turns stripping ourselves of our swimsuits and putting them on our heads as proof that underwater, we were all stark naked. Bea got REALLY drunk, more than I've ever seen her drunk before.

Paul: "Pwede ba pag tanda natin..."
Bea: "FRIENDS PADIN TAYOOOO..."
(which was not what paul was trying to say)

Bea: (repeatedly after he bathroom break) "Sh*t! Di ko maalala kung nag flush ako..."

Bea: "F8ck you sa earth!" (ano dawww??)

Paul: "NAPAKAwalangkwenta..."

Kari: "The power of Christ compels you! The power of Christ compels you!"

I might not have had as much blooper lines as bea did that day, but I drunkenly spent that afternoon using the vodka bottle as a lightsaber and flailing my arms around pretending I was Voltez 5 or something. I would also frequently spend filling up the bottle and flailing the water around like a water lasso. My oral fixation kicked in and I spent much of that time having a zesto straw stuck in my mouth and blowing bubbles in the seawater. Later that night my right arm hurt so bad from all the bottle waving I wanted to weep.

Baduy si Niki, hindi nalasing. Pero after another three(??) hour drive back, she graciously treated all of us to a Hotshots (Hots! Hots!) Burger Dinner. Crispy burger melt anyone?

July 4 daw ang sequel, this time, sama daw si Grace.
Then hopefully a third installment when you get here bb.

The End

Food Mecca

Dream #3: Dinner at the French Laundry.

After seeing the French Laundry episode of A Cook's Tour, I have added this to my ever growing list. But I bumped it up to number 3 (number one and two being European trip and Japan tour).

How much does a dinner for two cost at the French Laundry you may ask. Are you ready for it?

A whopping $480 EXCLUSIVE of wine and taxes.

One can dream. I do wish one day that I get to enjoy a nice 9-course meal by Thomas Keller, owner and chef of this prestigious establishment. View their sample menu here.

Let the cravings stop!

As of this moment, I want these...

Escape From New York
Pepperoni Pizza
Even if I just had Shakey's pizza,
there's always room for one of these.

Ben and Jerry's
Pistachio Ice Cream
*the Haagen Daz version is to die for as well*

Banana Walnut Muffin
I had one from the Sees stall infront of the TPC store in Podium yesterday and it was soooo good. But it was P60 for one! waaa!

Krispy Kreme Mocha
I haven't tried the one here in Manila yet but Paul and I had our first one in Las Vegas and it was sooo gooood!

Dunkin Donuts
I've always found the Krispy Kreme donuts too sweet. I love how Dunkin is subtle sweet so I get to have more without getting a headache from all the sweetness.

Mimosa
I rarely drink now, and when I do, I drink very little. I haven't had one in a while. The last time was in Vegas, me and Paul had it every night.

(insert profane expletives here)

P*ny$t@!

Walang katapusang kapalpakan! *more silent screaming and stamping*

Sometimes, I just want to shoot myself.

AAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!!!!

*pero say mo, galit na ko, pero creative blogger pa din*

Early (??) Evening Chill

I put a question mark in there since it's 10:20pm and that may be late for most people. But seeing as I normally sleep at 4am, this is early for me. Taking a break from watching A Cook's Tour episodes (hurray! JA finally gave them to me!). I've read Anthony Bourdain's book 3 times and loved it every single time. The book got me fascinated with Vietnam Cuisine. I love it. Seeing the Saigon episodes with him eating pho at the market place made me hungry. My favorite one is when he rides a boat on the Mekong Delta and buys breakfast from the so-called boat stalls that float alongside him. I want to go to Vietnam just to have Pho by the market. Yummy!

Oh and his (mis)adventures in Tokyo was just amazing. Eating all those sushi! I've had sushi three times this week and I still want more. I love sushi so much I want to go Japan. I wonder if what mama said is true about getting a Japanese visa is hard for pinoys. That's too bad, because I really want to go! Punta tayo bb ha!

Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans, are a persistant irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food. The body, these waterheads imagine, is a temple that should not be polluted by animal protein. It's healthier, they insist, though every vegetarian waiter I've worked with is brought down by a rumor of a cold. Oh, I'll accomodate them, I'll rummage around for something to feed them, for a "vegetarian plate," if called on to do so. Fourteen dollars for a few slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini suits my food cost fine.

People often ask me why vegans are the enemy of everything that is good and decent and must be hunted down and destroyed so their genes don't pass on to future generations, it's because if you can't enjoy even a stinky, nice, runny, ripe cheese like this, you may as well kill yourself now.
- Anthony Bourdain

Currently sipping semi fermented grape wine which your mom gave me. It was really a gift to her but since she doesn't drink daw, she gave it to me instead. It sucks so I'm just finishing up the portion I poured in my mug (wow, wine out of a mug? sosi!). I'm munching on the last few pieces of Ferrero Rocher chocolates which I also got from your dear mother. I swear, your mom loves me so bad. Tihee!

Now back to my show! I have yet to see that pig-killing ep from Portugal, drunken ep from Moscow and that desert camp in Morocco. Weee! You should finish reading the book bb. It's so much fun!

I feel a shoe itch coming...

Nangangati ako for new shoes. Lalo na ngayon na may maliit na sira yung bronze flats ko. I've been browsing Trunk Show's multiply site and I've been contemplating whether or not to go out and check out Step Rite. I want to go back to rockwell soon and go to hip. I want black peeptoe flats. It's either I get shoes or get that blue strapless print dress from People are People. I normally don't like getting dresses since I don't really look good in them, specially strapless ones but when I tried it on yesterday, it looked really good on me. It was a good thing they only had one on the rack and it's zipper was broken or else I would've swiped my visa again.

Gusto ko ng sapatos!!! Waaaa!

I have a feeling I'm going to have a new pair by the end of next week. Someone stop me please...

In other news, I just browsed through the features of Apple's new OS X upgrade Leopard and I WANT IT!!! Magkano kaya yon? I want I want I want! *stamps feet and waves hands in the air*

Long Day?

So I had to be in atc before 3pm since the number coding window ends at 3pm. I checked movie skeds and was pleased to see Ocean's 13 had a 3:30pm showing. I was already on Alabang-Zapote when I realized that I forgot to bring my Pink Razr with me. I was planning on having it unlocked in case the repair fee for papa's razr was too expensive. I decided to go to the cellphone stalls area in atc (after seeing the movie which I'm very sad to announce, SUCKED). I went around and began asking how much repairs for my blanked out display would cost. I got answers ranging from P1200-1500. I also asked how much it was to get a phone unlocked and one stall said P300. So I decided to have the pink razr unlocked since it would cost much less. I was going to head home already but decided to pick up the pink razr and go to ruins since it was closer to home. I found one place but they were charging me P800!!! Exxagg! I really didn't want to have to go back to atc tomorrow so I opted to head back to atc and go straight to that stall that said P300. They unlocked it so I was happy but then I saw that all my contacts were not stored in the sim but in papa's phone! I needed to have all of the numbers transfered which, in Manila, automatically costs money. I went to another place and paid P200 to get it done. Grabe talaga dito. Basta magatasan ka, peperahan ka talaga. But the somewhat bad day ended right because JA and Owee treated me to a foot/leg massage at Mandarine. It was Owee's thank you for helping her with that catalogue shoot two weeks ago. Tomorrow, I think I'm going to have mani/pedi done. :)

I'm still feeling a bit disappointed with the 3rd Ocean's franchise. It was so not what I expected to see. They should stop making any more of those even if it is a joy to see Clooney, Pitt and Damon in tailored blazers and spankin' shades.

Yowza!

Malandi din si Niki

Took photos of Niki at MOA. The pegs I were searching for all night surely helped. Kaya lang si Niki nakakainis, late na natulog so ang laki ng eyebags. Buti nalang may photoshop! Preview pictures below and you can view all of them here.

I had Itallianis dinner with grace, bea, paul and niki. I finally had the sicilian chicken salad I've been craving for. Sooo goood! Tapos nagyaya si Paul uminom sa Larga in BF. It's this small bar near your house. We all agreed to go to White Cove next wednesday! Yey! Beach!

Photos taken over dinner from Niki's jologs underwater cam (yun lang dala namen eh) can be viewed here.

Kasi Malandi Ako

Nag shopping nanaman ako. Eh kasi si Niki eh!!!

Got these at Bayo in MOA. I had to get the dress since I've been wanting a white dress for a while now. Same thing with the brown tweed shorts. I need casual wear other than jeans. Mashado ng mainit sa Manila, ayokong araw araw nag-ma-maong. I guess you don't need to get me those dresses from Old Navy since I have the dress I want. Sabi ni Kim I should wear it with my hair down at mukha na daw akong spartan. Mehganunhah!

Merc finally uploaded pictures from her despedida. The one where I jumped in the pool fully clothed. You should see them, a lot of them are hilarious I had to stop looking to avoid laughing so hard. You can view all of the pictures here.

Morning Ho-Hum

Woke up earlier than usual today, 10am! Hey, that's early enough for me. It's been getting harder and harder to wake up at this hour lately. It's kind of odd because if I'm not mistaken, I slept close to 3-4am this morning. I was up reading The Subtle Knife. I have to finish it soon since Tin is reading The Golden Compass right now and she's about to finish. Her not having work gives her more time to read. She wants to read Book 2 as soon as she's done so I'm trying my best to hurry it up. Buying the trilogy box set has been one of my best buys lately I think.

It's a gloomy morning, cooler than usual and it's raining out. I love the smell of rain. Sleeping in this room with a window facing the vacant lot beside the house has had it's ups and downs. I hear lots of things at night, drunken neighbors singing karaoke, partying neighbors playing techno/trance crap late in the night, cats wailing during mating season, Maxie in his cage (our labrador) shifting in his sleep. One thing I love is the smell of rain in the morning. People tell me it's not really the rain I smell but the scent of the soil steaming through when the rain cools it off. I don't really care. It's one of the things I missed most when it was raining in San Francisco. Living in a third story apartment in the middle of the Haight will not give me the same morning whiff of so-called soil steam. Hihi. Normally, waking up in this kind of weather would make me want to wrap myself up in my blanket and doze off some more but for some reason, I'm wide awake without a trace of my usual grogginess.

Wow, it's raining really hard now. Hard enough for rain to splash onto the wall and into my window to sprinkle my macbook screen. How am I gonna get to my car and into Mall of Asia in this rain? Whoops.

More from the night's events

Got invited (well, I more of crashed) Merc's despedida at her house in Bel-Air. Ang takaw ko talaga, busog na ko from my sushi dindin with sila sheila pero inupakan ko pa din yung bbq at palabok dun. We played Cranium until some of the girls had to head home. Everyone who got left behind decided to swim. Some were prepared for a swim party and some weren't (like me), but I decided to f*ck it and jump in fully clothed. I paid the price later on since I had to drive home sopping wet. I sat on plastic bags and didn't lean on my seat all the way home. It was a fun and eventful day and I'm glad I decided to not work today.

Idol Ko si Sheila

I finally got to see Sheils after so long. Last I saw this lady was in July last year. I missed her so much! She's fresh off her US vacation and Rico just graduated Berkeley College of Music. Sheila and I chit-chatted in Segafredo in greenbelt then I finally had sushi after four months! YumYum! I had such a fun time with these two. I have to see them again soon, you have to meet sheils when you come bb. More photos from dinner here.

I'm now in Merc's house in Bel-Air. She's throwing her own despedida party since she's resigning from TPC. It's a poker party and Paul, Bea and Niki have started playing and Paul is kicking their asses.

Me and Merc

Will try to be home by midnight so I can catch you online before you go to work.

I HEART Itallianis

I called home before work ended asking what was for dinner and ate Noemi said Yoe and Tin was finishing up the last of the ulam as we spoke. Pfft. So I decided to splurge a little and get Itallianis Angel Hair Pomodoro to go. I was sitting there waiting for my meal and I glance over to a poster nearby and it featured my all time favorite, their Sicilian chicken salad. The image of it never fails to make me drool. *droolz* I have to take you there when you come, I know you said you don't like having fruit in your salad but, this is a must try bb. And their pumpkin soup is the shit I tell you. Gawd I just love Itallianis. Ever since I had my first meal there in 2000, in the old restaurant in the old greenbelt, I believe it was beside Schwarzwalder near the old Ayala Museum (aww, sniff! reminiscing!). Kahit nga yung foccacia lang nila dipped in the balsamic/olive oil mixture solb na solb na ko eh. Champion talaga!

Off topic:

So I wore my new shoes today only to realize after a while of walking in them that one shoe is smaller than the other! When I first wore them it just felt snug but over time, walking in them hurt my right foot. I had to buy one of those cushion thingies to keep the back of my foot from getting pantal (wow, conyo). I'm a little pissed about it but it's nothing a bit of overnight shoe stretching won't fix (at least I hope so). Still, I love those shoes and that's not gonna stop me from wearing them!

"Highlight" of my week

Maliit lang naman yung damages but the accident was still traumatic. For those of you who don't know, I got into a car accident the other day. Head on with a motorcycle along sucat bridge en route to the tollgate.
