Now it's your turn to go nuts

3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30,
SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE
SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $ 27,
ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Jammi and I went nuts over this problem and it took several tries and several ways of trying to solve it before we figured it out. Can you?

Last day :(

Last day of work was like any other. The day was slow with not enough clients on a Saturday but at least I wasn't harassed on my last day. Everybody was semi-relaxed since we had already reached our sales quota so all was good.

One annoying thing that happened today though is that I was forced to buy this dress (see below) because the dress I was wearing to work got stain spots from the sandwich I was eating in the car on the way here. I am already very broke but couldn't possible wear the stained dress to work. Ang dungis ko kaya!! The dress is nice anyway so I'll worry about paying my credit card next month.

I'm on my way to be Matthew and Jammi's charity case. They're treating me to dindin in Gerry's Grill since Matthew has discount coupons. Matthew saying, "Come to dinner, we love you" made my ears bleed. Eeeeeee.....

Back to the strangely familiar

*Updated with Video!*

Currently in the new Bona Coffee branch in Alabang with Jammi, Matthew and friends. Had to get out of the house because of a power outage as I had to finish my paperwork. Bona is a having a party and a contest for their baristas. They're handing out shots of three mystery drinks and have the customers vote for the best one. So far, I'm leaning towards the 2nd mystery drink because of it's ingenious use of almond slices.

Still working on my paperwork while the party goes on around me. Will update this later with Flip snippets Jammi took while I typed away in my little nook.

The Bona boys seemed both happy and surprised to see me tonight. I haven't been going to Bona as regularly as I used to and they weren't shy to show how pleased they were to see me. Now that I'm soon to be unemployed, I have more (I got more time on my hands) and less (no more income) reason to come again.

The winning drink was Christian's Mystery Drink #2, dubbed as the Pink Panther closely followed by Joseph's Coco Amaretto (#1). I forgot the name of the third one but it was a milk tea concoction, made by one of the new boys and Luis (one of the owners).

I don't want to float my own boat or anything...

but I make the BESTEST TUNA SANDWICH EVER!!!

Loser me. I already had a sammie earlier for dindin
but I made this one just so I can take a photo of it.
I just finished eating this last one and IT.IS.THE.BOMB.

I remember Paul saying once,
"I normally don't like tuna but that is the best tuna sandwich I have ever had."

..and if he doesn't remember saying that then I'll make him remember. heee...

Last photos from work

Saturday is my last day at work so I felt compelled to have one last photo shoot since I won't have a studio at my disposal beyond this week. Jammi was kind enough to take these wonderful photos, a couple of which were inspired by David Bowie.

The rest of the photos are seen here.

Cookies, Steaks and Toe Licking

It's 2am and I'm too lazy to write so I'm going to let the videos explain my day.

Niki came over and we made white chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. Bea, Alain, Paul, Jad and Grace were on their way back from the overnight beach trip and invited us over to Paul's to have steaks for dinner.

Jad cooked us the steaks while Grace whipped up garlic baby potatoes to match it. Jad made this magnificent Bearnaise sauce to pair with the steaks. They totally rocked! Regular steaks will never be the same again. We had the cookies for dessert and ate them with vanilla ice cream. This gave us an idea of making ice cream sandwiches. Next time, I'll bake bigger cookies and squash a scoop of ice cream in between. *droolz*

Drinks were consumed as usual. Alain, as he mentioned in the previous video, did get drunk and begun attacking my feet. I got back at him after that.

Because it's cheap Thai food

Jammi treated me to Soms today! Yehey!

Even though the Soms ladies completely forgot our order and made us wait for our food for about an hour the food is still rave-worthy! Jammi was so pissed that our entire bill (2 thai iced teas, 2 rice, green chicken curry and spring rolls) was equivalent to ONE CUP of green chicken curry at Wild Ginger! I guess we're never going back to WG again. Soms rocks! (but not as much as Jatujak, hee!)

So far, on this season's finales...

Heroes: WTF. What happened?!
Dexter: *standing ovation*
Prison break: huh?
Private Practice: pfft
Pushing Daisies: hwat?!
CSI: Las Vegas: Will this ever end?
Desperate Housewives: blah..
Gossip Girl: Aw c'mon...wth was that?
Ugly Betty: blaah..
Grey's Anatomy: Woowww...*clap*clap*clap*swoon*tear*
*Sob* I miss my husband so bad...so very, very bad.

That last one is the reason I'm coming to work tomorrow (or rather, later) with only THREE hours of sleep. I sure hope I wake up since I am opening the store and am the only one who has keys. Gawd I hope I wake up.

Brothers and Sisters and Lost better up their game.

September's a loooong way away.

The (new) Hair

Doesn't the new 'do remind you of the 80's feathered haircut?

Once again, I am downing caffeine whilst catching up on paperwork. I have a little over a week left to finish up all my backlog. I don't think I'm going to be able to make my deadline and will need to work long hours at home at night just to be able to catch up.

Slight Retraction

Okay...

So I saw it again two hours after I first saw the movie. This time, I was with Bea and Paul. The second time around, it became more evident that the movie's plot was a little over the top. So much that I can actually say it felt ridiculous.

I feel bad just writing this since I am a fan, but after all the action and hooplah, I've begun to notice the movie's flaws. Granted, the first three had their own, I expected more out of this one considering it took them 20 years to make another one.

Again, a die hard fan may still love it. Hey, I loved it the first time I saw it. I suppose you should only watch it once. The third installment is still my hands down favorite. I half-hoped Sean Connery would do a cameo in this one and I'm not ashamed to say my heart skipped a beat when they flashed his photo.

Another tip, don't stay till the end of the movie. They don't have any after-credit bonus footage. I sat through the end the first time and was rewarded with the Paramount banner, nothing more.

The should've brought back that Asian kid...that would've been fun.

Indy!!!

*Warning!*
Spoilers to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull below!!

If you're an Indy fan, like me, you will love it! If you were not a big fan of the trilogy, then you will probably notice the CGI overload, over the top action scenes and the unbelievable bullet dodging by the old man's gang. I noticed them all but enjoyed the movie all the same. It was as Indy as Indy gets. I doubt he did half of his action scenes but I don't care!

I especially loved the mobile sword fight between Shia Lebouf and Cate Blanchett and had to suppress my glee as they ran down the retracting circular staircase. I laughed out loud as Shia threw Indy a giant snake to pull him up from the quicksand. If anyone remembers, Mr. Jones may be quite the adventure seeker but is deathly afraid of snakes. I fondly remember that scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark where he is trapped in the Well of Souls with thousands of snakes (hee!).

The plot was weird though. It was an action-adventure that started true to the Indiana Jones theme but they managed to inject some sci-fi to the whole thing which made it kind of weird. Go watch it! I may watch it again when Bea and Paul watch it! I saw the movie alone which may seem quite sad but being alone became an advantage when I was looking for seats since I managed to find a good spot sandwiched between two couples. The females were snuggled up to their bf's so I had the armrest all to myself.

Belch Fest

Had a shift in ATC today since one of our old clients found out I was leaving soon and wanted me to take her family's photos one last time before I go. The girls and I had Shakey's delivered for lunch. Two party sized thin crust pizzas and a basket of mojos (plus 3 pcs of chicken for Chiqui!) We had a big bottle of coke after the huge meal and a burping contest began. Niki and Almonds were the undisputed winner. Congratulations to the lovely, disgusting women!

Looking for an escape

I am so sick of being the 7th wheel at home. Tin was supposed to treat the family out to dinner to celebrate her first paycheck. What I didn't know that "family" meant the inclusion of both my sister's boyfriends. Hooray for me...

So there I was, sitting silently scarfing down my dinner while Tin and her bf chit-chatted with my parents while Kim and her bf shared silent jokes and laughing to each other. Thank god I decided to arrive late so I wouldn't have to silently suffer too long. I downed my dinner in about 15 minutes and finished just in time for them to get the check and pay. They were all heading back to the house to enjoy more chit-chat over desserts. I was desperate for an escape but was unable to find one that didn't involve spending money I am not supposed to be spending. I made a slight detour in step-rite trying to stall and see if anyone would text me to do something else tonight. I almost spent money on a pair of cute beige open toe patent flats but forced myself to look the other direction. It was also a good idea to leave my wallet in the car, just in case. I was planning on going to Ruins after that but since I almost shelled out money for shoes, I was too afraid at all the useless crap I might find in Ruins.

I spent the whole of yesterday and today watching episodes of Friends. Guess what I'm about to do after this...

I am dreaming of a sandwich

Seriously.

I can't get it out of my head. I want one of those baguette sandwiches from Saigon again. I can't stop thinking about it. I want to sink my teeth through the crusty bread right into it's flavorful filling. I've said it once before and I will say it again,

BEST.DAMN.SANDWICH.EVER.

If I had a little extra money to burn, I would go back to Saigon just for the food. I can spend another Vietnam vacation simply eating out of Ben Thanh Market and I'll be a happy trooper.

Boys Night In?

Well, I meant the boys plus me. :) The usual girls were unable to join us tonight.

Was off work early so I got home, had dinner and went through several website before I began to get bored. Paul, Alain and Jad were at Paul's house. They picked me up and we spent the night downing Red Horse + Extra Joss while skipping through movies and snacking on Nagaraya and Sweet Corn Snacks. I don't think we even finished one movie today.

Thanks men.

Isa pang hurrah!

Because of Cebu Pacific's ZERO fare promo, we have just decided to go back to Boracay around August! You all should avail of the promo now! Ticket sale is only until Sunday, May 18! Travel period is until December 2008 so book now!

Paul didn't want to go at first since we're planning on roughing it this time since we can no longer afford the posh accommodations at Le Soleil like before. We could all stay in one room with bunk beds, for as long as it has a clean bathroom, I don't care! We're going back to Boracay!

I am also considering using what little money I have left to buy a ticket to Bangkok for July. What do you guys think? It's probably the cheapest ticket I can get anywhere and I really would like to go to Bangkok before I finally leave for the US.

I have until Saturday to decide. I can worry about accommodations there later. I can look for cheap hostels or pension inns instead of staying in a hotel. I'll really have to rough it but at least I get to see Thailand. I will have very little money left na talaga which means I'll probably have to live like a peasant for months until I find income again. My gut is telling me to do it! I wanna do it!

Today...

Grace was a Jatujak virgin and she really wanted to try it so she treated us for dindin.

We headed back south to pick-up Bea's cousin from Hawaii and took her out to Pier One in BF for strawberry margaritas. The music sucked so we continued taking vodka shots at my place. It was in my house that we drunkenly decided to go to Boracay despite the fact that we ALL had NO money. We are all going to devise a plan to come up with the money in time for the trip. We all felt like we had to go back there before we went our separate ways.

Paul finally got his own Flip! We'll be flippin' each other from now on! Whoo!

Please note that while mine is named CHARLIE, he named his flip, PILIP!
PILIP the Flip

We never hang at my place, so this was a first.

Cutest Little Munchkin!

Paul's sister, Kate recently gave birth to an adorable baby girl named Joann!

I can't wait to take pictures! She's soooooo cute! I want to smother her with smooches so baaaad!

Akin nalang si Dylan PLEASE!

Dear Daddy J,

If you put her up for adoption, please put me number one on the list. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to keep her. I promise to love her forever, buy her pretty dresses, smother her poofy cheeks, blow raspberries on her belly, make her laugh, hug her tight, kiss her all the time, give her ponies, take her shopping, and everything in between.

love, K

The photos are months old but never fail to make me smile every time I see 'em.

F%$#@)(#&%!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

I have been trying to NOT spend at all recently since I know I will be without regular income in less than a month. I come home, see my credit card statement and I see that I've been charged $79 for an AMAZON PRIME MEMBERSHIP!!!!

WAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

I totally forgot I signed up for the free trial to buy my Flip. I should have canceled my membership right after the free trial but obviously forgot to do so. The membership fees kicked in and they automatically charged me for it!

I. WANT. TO. CRY.

Wala na akong pera eh!!!!! Yesterday, I had to use the money Jammi paid me to pay for the damn car registration. Grace, malabo na yung Vigan, Batanes, at kung ano ano pang plano natin. Wala na akong pangbayad. FREAAAAKKK!!!!

Wala. I will be indoors for three months beginning June. WHY ME!?!? WHYYYY!!!!!?!?!?

Nahiya naman ako

I had the opening shift at work today. I got here groggy and hungry. I was unable to wake up early enough to have breakfast. I really really didn't want to spend on food but knew I had to eat something so I opted to get a donut from Krispy kreme and maybe get their cheapest coffee instead of my usual drink. I walked in KK and chose my donut, walked to the register and the guy behind the counter hands me my usual large iced caramel latte! They apparently started making my drink as soon as I walked in the store. Nahiya naman ako so I bought it nalang.

Long day? I'd say so.

Between my abandoned baby photo shoot to the near death experience to couscous and sleyliber,* I'd say I had a good long day.

One of my regular clients in Fort brought a baby to the store for pictures today. She said it was hers even though I knew she was not recently pregnant. Later on she tells me that she found the child abandoned infront of her gate. She was left with a small note indicating her date of birth. She was very sick and was rushed to the hospital and discovered to have a case of asthma. The one month old girl was in the ICU for a week. While I was shooting her earlier I noticed her very loud breathing. She was so small in my hands, slightly larger than my two fists. That child is so lucky.

On the way home I nearly had an accident. Running down the dark area of C5, a truck ran through a deep puddle which caused water to splash over my entire windshield giving me zero visibility in an already dark road while running at 60km/hr. For several seconds I swerved and tried to shake the water off and managed to avoid slamming the car into the road's side railings within yards of it. I was stunned for a few minutes until I began laughing in the car knowing how close I was to disaster.

Went to Paul's since Bea texted they had left over couscous. I was one-fourth through the bowl of grub when I realized I'd already had dinner. It was the first time I've had couscous so I'd say it was ayt. I'd like to try to ones made from scratch though since Paul's version came out of the box.

*For future reference:
Cossack Cobra: iced tea, OJ + vodka
Cossack Bora: OJ-Pineapple + vodka
Sleyliber: OJ-mango + vodka

Now excuse me while I pass out. I need to be at work by 9:30am tomorrow. Good luck to me.

Current Playlist: JIM

Loving every track. Wished there were more songs on it though. Ten songs feels a little too short.

My iPod needs a major update. I'm still playing songs from a year ago. I've been focused on juicing Audio Array (ze iPod dumdum) with movies and tv episodes I've forgotten that it is a music player after all.

I have yet to send DharmaPod (ze other iPod) to the Apple store to get it replaced. They're gonna give me a new one since my current one has a slight LCD leak. I've been procrastinating backing up the contents of DharmaPod that's why I can't send it in just yet. I may have stuff there that I don't have in iPod numba two or Dharmac so I really need to get it done.

Must. get. off. my. bum. and. get. it. done.

I don't think I'll ever catch up with the backlog of work. My stack keeps piling up and it doesn't help when there's a PB who won't stop EAT me. It seems H main purpose in life is to PMOAMMLALH.

Hahaha.

Tried the new strawberry cheesecake donut from KK. I don't taste the cheesecake but I think strawberry lovers won't be disappointed.

Now back to work. My bosses should have paid for my Mac's Apple Care. After all, it's main purpose is to spew out reports, numbers, memos, manuals and basically clog all my manager's inboxes with incessant reminders. Don't hate me girls. I AM just a messenger.

Feeling like school again

Spent the day crashing on Bea and Paul's quality time. Paul and Bea made a hefty lunch of steamed tilapia, stewed vegetables, chicken breast and a salad of greens, diced green apples, walnuts and blue cheese crumble. We took George to the vet then started work on our paper. Two hours of research and non-stop typing, Bea and I had only two pages each and felt brain dead so we went for pizza and potato au gratin in Big Apple followed by desert and cold drinks in Bona where Niki met up with us. We headed back to Paul's to continue working on the paper. It's currently 1:30am and I've given up on getting more than 3 pages in tonight. The research work takes way too much time since we have no resources but the internet.

Another Blog Game

Will I ever say this to you?

The rules are simple, list 20 things you want to say to 20 people but don't say who they are.

In no particular order:
  1. You're my friend but not a lot of people can stand you. Sometimes, me too.
  2. You think you sing well but a lot of people are afraid to tell you that you really can't.
  3. I thought you were stronger.
  4. You need to treat your men better. Soon, they will realize you have nothing great to offer them and you will live a sad, lonely life.
  5. Stop whining. Not everyone cares.
  6. You need to stop before they all leave you. Some of them already have.
  7. Sometimes I wonder what if...then I realize how boring you can be.
  8. I try my best to stand you because I love her. But when you're gone, I will not cry.
  9. She deserves much better. Go away. None of us can stand you.
  10. You need to quit worrying and let me be. Everyone learns from getting burned.
  11. I'm really sorry. But I'm so glad you're both happy.
  12. You haven't spoken to me in about three years, I miss you.
  13. Stop kidding yourself. Everyone hates you.
  14. I hope our friendship stands the test of time...and distance.
  15. You're an a-hole who just needed to look cool huh?
  16. I either don't say it or say it as a joke, but I love you.
  17. I don't think you realize how much I admire you. You are amazing.
  18. You smell.
  19. Most of the time, I can tell you're bullsh*tting me, but I choose to ignore it because I'm too lazy to argue.
  20. I still pretend you're on a very long vacation somewhere far away. I should have visited you before you died. You're my favorite person in the world. You're the only one that reminded me of him.

Sunday Cookout

Okay so it wasn't exactly a cookout. I called it that since the stove in Paul's house is outside beside the garage so technically, we did cook out. Or Jad did anyway.

It was a new experience grocery shopping with guys today. I had absolutely no hand in the shopping and simply tagged along. Chef Jad was going to make us his own recipe of what we refer to as Pasta a la Jace (hayaan mo ng walang sense yung pangalan).

As the rest of the people (except Ms. Flaker Nukai) arrived at the house, Jad got to work on dinner. It was pasta in oil, garlic, tomato, anchovies and black olives topped with clams and crumbled feta cheese. OMG. I don't normally like clams but that dish was dope. I don't think I can replicate the dish on my own and will have to refer to the following video if ever I am to attempt it myself. They boiled too much pasta so Paul used the remaining noodles to make his Pasta a la Pulutuan Pulutua. I don't know what he put in his version but it was good all the same.

Saw An American Crime after dinner and the movie was once again proof of how amazing Ellen Page is. The film was horrific and heavy as expected due largely to her stellar performance. They saw Over My Dead Body next while I slept through half the movie after having very little sleep the night before and having consumed a few glasses of screwdriver. Watched Friends episodes after to wash out the bad Eva Longoria flick before we all decided to call it a night. I'm surprised to see it's already 4am. I didn't realize how much time I spent over there. I have a paper to write tomorrow so I'm signing off.

Cramming

In SBC cramming my paperwork so I won't have to worry about it on my day off tomorrow while I cram some more on a paper that's due for submission by Saturday.

Had a sausage and mushroom omellette for lunch here since the lady said it was their best seller. It sucked. Just scarfing it down to get my money's worth. They have really good french toasts here though.

Another proof that I am Bree Van de Kamp

"Whenever I feel my emotion is getting the best of me,
I simply picture an empty box.
And I take whatever I'm feeling and put it in that in the box.
And then I picture myself putting the box away
in a big empty closet and closing the door.
Then, if I have time I'd go back and open the box
and deal with the emotion.
In private.
Like a lady."

Rut-ness the sequel

So tonight I find myself in a somewhat familiar yet different situation. I'm home in a quiet house. Both sisters are with their boyfriends and my parents are out of the country until Monday. I'm sitting here wondering what the hell I'm going to do and ask myself why I'm so bored. I haven't been bored like this in quite a while. I realized I haven't been home early enough to wonder what to do before bed. I'm usually home in the wee hours slightly inebriated and just about ready to pass out. This is weird for me. I'm trying to refrain from draining the remaining contents of my Absolut Apeach just so I can sleep. I will not go there. Not now. No, Kari, NO.

I skipped work due to a monstrous hangover from the previous night. Yes, yes, bad manager. But I knew I couldn't do it as my head felt like it was going to split open. People who know me know that I will go to work even in the worst health conditions. I've worked through fevers, bad pms and even diarrhea. I do (well, did) love my job and I normally wouldn't let a little snag from getting in the way of my work. Today was just the exception to that and I hope whoever from work reads this will cut me some slack. I've worked way too hard not to give myself a bit of down time. When the headache died down I contemplated on going to work since I realized I was missing double pay today (labor day) but just couldn't bring myself to go.

I spent the day watching shows I haven't seen. I told Paul S. I was going to try to do the research on the paper we're supposed to submit in 10 days but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm sorry dude. My brain just refused to process anything more than Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters today. Not even CSI made the cut. I could have taken the time to continue editing Saigon videos but didn't even do that. I could watch movies but my collection does not include enough brainless movies, which of course are the only ones I can stand at the mo'. So I'm waiting for 27 Dresses to finish dl-ing so I can enjoy a good, stupid movie.

I know I need to get off my a$$ and start doing stuff. I can't hole up in my dingy room forever. I'll have lots of time to do so after the end of the month.

Man that bottle of vodka sure is tempting...
