The One with Mica Jumping all the Time

We missed the bus to Vineyard Haven so we killed time hanging out at Beetlebung Farm across the road from The Yard. My album from day 3 consists mostly of Mica jumping around.

A few yards behind the flower patch there was a wooden pole with a decapitated deer head hooked on it. Whatever reason this was for, I do not know.

We finally caught the bus and headed to Vineyard Haven
...and had two heaping scoops of ice cream each from Mad Martha's.

We walked around the small town before heading over to Oak Bluffs and checked out the rows of gingerbread houses. Louiie, I took the photo of the piggy for you. So cutie!
We had a very late lunch at Linda Jean's Cafe where we had chicken and gravy with peas over rice and another bowl of clam chowder. So far the best among the three I've had here are from Faith's Seafood Shack in Aquinnah.

We hopped back on a bus that drove through Edgartown. It is probably the shi-shi-est of the three towns with the large American colonial houses and white picket fences and perfectly manicured lawns. We jumped 3 buses to head back to Menensha to buy shrimp and clams at the fish market for our sinigang. By this time it's gotten very very cold and windy that we were trying to shelter ourselves behind a shack and hugging ourselves to keep warm while waiting for the bus. Hard to believe that just the day before it was warm enough for us to be in our bikinis.

Currently packing my stuff since I'm heading back to NYC tomorrow (noooooooo!!!!!!). I wish I could stay a while longer but vegetarian fare must be handed out to veggie lovers at the restaurant (hmph). I still have to wake up early friday morning to do laundry since I'm out of socks. Craaaaaap! I want more vacation time!!!

Photos from today can be seen here.

You can barely hear anything from the video since the wind was blowing so hard.

Last Day Out in Vegas

Louiie took me out the desert on my last day. What's a vacation in Nevada without experiencing barren lands and intense heat? Hahaha! First she took me to the Ethel M chocolate factory where the workers were obviously on break. Hehe. We walked around the cactus garden beside it for a bit.

Then we headed off to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area en route to the Hoover Dam. We kept stopping every so often to take photos of the dunes and rock formations. I was so glad to be roaming with a companion so Louiie and I alternately took vanity photos of each other. I was so not dressed for a day in the desert but at least I was pretty. Hahaha!

My tattoo was searing under the heat of the sun so I had to cover it up using tissue and duct tape.

I love my vintage dress. It looked so good against Nevada's barren lands.

We got lost for a bit then finally found our way to the location of Megatron and the ALL SPARK! Hahaha! I was more excited that Optimus Prime digitally touched this place more than anything else.

I clung to my aviators for dear life.
I was afraid they'd slide off and away.

For some weird reason, I was craving for bread, cheese and fruit. Louiie drove to Boulder City and managed to find a nice cafe called Milo's Cellar that served just that! We had such an awesome dinner at what Louiie claims was a fraction of the price of what they should be. They had such a wide selection of wines (they are a cellar after all) and lagers that went for $4 a glass!

This was exactly what I was craving for!
Beaujolais Platter
Baked Brie with nuts, dried fruit, grapes, apples and bread
broccoli and cheddar soup with bread and olive oil-vinegar dip
Porto Bella sandwich
grilled chicken, manchego cheese, portobello mushrooms, greens, a light dressing with a side of fruit, pickle and potato salad
Buffalo Chicken Salad in a light ranch dressing
It's a creamy chocolate mousse cake, I don't need to describe it!
It was good! It was ALL very, very good!

Vimeo is having upload problems right now so if you're checking this early, then you'll need to make do with the crappy Blogger video player. I'll upload a nicer version in Vimeo as soon as they get their sh!t together.

When we got home, Louiie napped for an hour then we headed back out to have drinks at Arsy's place. I had a couple glasses of wine and a Stella and I passed out on the couch.

Acrylic Claws

Kate, Jose, Joann and I went to Target after our dinner at the Cheesecake Factory today since they needed to buy new luggage for their upcoming trip to Utah. I was walking through the cosmetics area and found the acrylic nails area. I've always been insecure when it comes to my nails and wondered what it would be like to have acrylic ones. I bought a set and just finished putting them on. They're not perfectly placed but they look way better than my regular ones. See?

Instant manicure!

I barely had anything to eat today. I'm still trying to cancel out all the eating I've done in Redwood and since I skipped the gym yesterday for the 2-hour season premiere of Grey's Anatomy, I had nothing but a bowl of cereal, an apple, a glass of wine (at 2pm, hehe) and barely half of my lemon herb roasted chicken at the Cheesecake Factory (it wasn't as good as I though it would be). When we got home from Target, I spent an hour and a half at the gym while watching the US Presidential Debate. As excited as I am about the upcoming elections (GO OBAMA!), I have to admit that I understood very little of what they were talking about. I feel like an ignorant idiot. My maternal grandmother would kill me if she knew I was for Obama. My mother says she's been going door to door campaigning for McCain. It's all got to do with him being ProLife, I don't want to get into it.

Finally purchased a mouthguard today. My dentist has been telling me to get one for years because I grind my teeth when I sleep. I never got one since I figured it would cost me more than I was willing to pay at the dentist. Also, a mouthguard is one of the most unsexiest things you could use in bed. But since I won't have to worry about being sexy for anyone anymore, I figured it's time to take care of my teeth. Dental visits in the US cost a lot of money I can't afford visits to a dentist now. Now excuse me while I fit my new mouthguard.

The Hair Post

Boredom led me here. I uploaded a photo and tried playing around with the different styles to see if giving my hair an entirely new do over would suit me. I found out that straight hair will never sit well with me.

There are two things that people remember when they
meet me, my height and my hair. People referring to me would always say the tall, curly girl. My voice and manner of speaking catch their attention next, Jammi once described it as "palengke slut." Thank you dear, I will never forget that. :p

Miranda: Smart, yes, sometimes cute, but never sexy. Sexy is the thing I try to get them to see me after I win them over with my personality.
Carrie: You win men over with your personality?

All throughout my lower and high school years, I never wore my hear in any other way but a ponytail. Curly hair was not the fashion back then and everyone in school had long straight hair and all the guys went gaga over the chick with the long locks. I hid my hair in the tightest of ponytails. There was a time though that I asked my mom to get my hair straightened so she took me to Freshaire (it was 1994, OK!) and I ended up like this, but with burnt ends.

I had an ID photo just like this once,
but with shoulder length hair

In college, most of the people who knew me from Benilde know me by this hair.

My then boyfriend just broke up with me
and I took it out on my hair

Then one time, I came to class and was greeted by gasps because I pushed it further to this.

Eventually I grew it out but was still not at peace with my curls so I spent hours every morning blow drying them straight before work.

Then just before I worked for TPC, I said "f*ck it." I was exhausted of having to spend hours every morning just so I can end up with hair that goes crazy when it gets rained on or when I start to sweat.

I would get a haircut every 6 months
but when I'd look at photos, they all end up looking the same.

I had long curly hair for years and I was getting sick of it so I had it cut to what it is now. It's harder to manage since I can't get lazy and just tie it up like I used to because of the short layers but I grew tired of looking like a lioness and needed a change.

Once again, I've wasted your time with this post. Wag ka na kasi magbasa eh.
