I have a bike!!!
Ana and Poy gave me Chen's old bike which she left before moving to the UK. It's been sitting in the basement for months, unused and ignored so they gave it to me. It needed a bit of work so I had to shell out a bit to have it tuned up and the chains replaced but it basically cost me about the same amount as buying a 2nd hand bike off of Craigslist and even that bike will need a tune up anyway. It should be ready by Tuesday and I can't wait to start taking bike rides around Prospect Park and going to the weekend farmer's market without worrying about hauling all my produce back to the apartment.
Last night was a fun night with Caitlin and Mica. Mica dropped by my work and waited until I got off my shift. We headed downtown to Caitlin and in turn, waited for her to get off work. We sat and chatted while sipping on our complimentary cocktails (I <3 Cait). We were good and buzzed at midnight but were apparently no where near done drinking. Caitlin wanted a drink (or two) after the day she had so we headed over to Ulysses. This 22-year old drunk kid came over, disrupting our conversation trying to pick us up. Mica and Cait immediately brushed him off leaving me to fend him off. I tried my best not to be rude by talking to him but he was majorly annoying. After a few minutes of patiently putting up with his lame lines,
Kari: how old are you, kid?
jerkface: how old do you think I am? why don't you guess?
Kari: (exasperated) you know what, if we're going to play this game, you don't have to tell me. I don't need to know.
jerkface: fine, I'm 22. how about you?
Kari: much, much older than you, son.
jerkface: I don't care about that.
Kari: Well I do.
jerkface: so what do you want to know about me?
Kari: nothing really, I'm not really interested.
It took a long time before we finally had to tell him straight off that we were not interested for him to walk away. Mica was laughing so hard. She apparently enjoyed that whole scenario and wanted to see if we could do it again. Neither Mica or I had ever had an experience like that but Caitlin, who was a regular at Ulysses, constantly had to deal with stuff like that, but mostly with much older Wall st. men.
I apparently have a high tolerance for really annoying people, something I'm kinda aware of but didn't know to what extent until last night. I've been known to be able to carry on friendships with certain individuals none of my other friends can stand. I don't know where I got that ability.
Reposting this video that Mike sent me. It's so weird I have to share it.
